Introduction:
The vibrant and energetic festival of Navaratri was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kolhapur with a spectacular Dandiya Fest held on 9th October 2024 at Smruti Bhawan. The event was organized by first year department and witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and staff, making it a grand success.
Event Highlight:
The Dandiya Fest commenced in the evening with an auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a traditional prayer to seek blessings for the occasion. The event featured a well-decorated venue with colourful rangolis, fairy lights, and festive décor, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
The main attraction of the evening was the Dandiya and Garba dance, where students dressed in traditional attire performed in synchronized rhythm to the beats of energetic folk music. A live DJ and a music band added to the excitement, ensuring that the crowd remained engaged and entertained throughout the night.
To encourage participation, a Dandiya Dance Competition was held, where the best dancers were awarded in categories such as Best Dancer (Male & Female), Best Costume, and Best Group Performance. Faculty members also enthusiastically participated, adding to the festive spirit.
Food & Refreshments:
A variety of traditional snacks and refreshments were available, featuring delicacies like samosa, dhokala, sandwich & soft drinks adding to the authentic Navaratri experience.
Safety & Management:
The event was well-managed with proper security arrangements, first aid facilities, and crowd control measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Volunteers were stationed at key areas to assist participants and maintain decorum.
Conclusion:
The Dandiya Fest 2025 at Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kolhapur was a resounding success, bringing together students and faculty in a celebration of tradition, music, and dance. The event not only provided an opportunity to embrace cultural heritage but also strengthened the bond of unity and joy among participants. The overwhelming response and enthusiasm from the attendees have set a high benchmark for future celebrations.
